ABOUT ME

Hello and welcome! My name is Cherie Lusky, LCPC, ATR, a trained art therapist, somatic therapist, and licensed counselor (pronouns she/her/hers).

In practice for over fifteen years, I continue to evolve my approach to therapy and incorporate mind-body and creative elements from an intuitive place with clients. In addition to private practice, I have worked at therapeutic day schools, outpatient mental health clinics and non-profit organizations.

I currently meet with adults with a focus on individuals experiencing life transitions (a new job, recent move, relationship breakup), stressors, anxiety, depression and trauma survivors. I also have a special interest in supporting other individuals in the healing professions as well as artistic and creative types. I welcome all genders/gender identities, sexual orientations, races, religious beliefs and cultural backgrounds into my practice.

At the moment, I do not have availability for new clients.

Therapy Session

INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY

Meeting You Where You're At

Are you new to therapy? Or have you tried in the past and are looking to re-engage? My approach to therapy is holistic (meaning the whole individual) in nature. We'll examine all parts of your life that may need a little extra attention or support to figure out the best treatment plan for you. I utilize evidence-based practices such as ACT (acceptance commitment therapy), mindfulness and a little sprinkle of CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy).

ART THERAPY

Express Yourself Creatively

Art therapy is a expressive therapeutic modality that can assist individuals in opening up creativity, exploring emotions and blocks, touch into experiences that may be too painful to talk about, or discover insights that may not be gained by traditional talk therapy. You do not need any special training in art to participate in art therapy, just a willingness to be creative and explore. A directive (prompt) will be provided to you based on therapeutic goals that have been established.

SOMATIC EXPERIENCING®

Increase Emotional Regulation

Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) is a therapeutic technique that incorporates the body into treatment. The body often gets left behind or not incorporated in traditional psychotherapy. Somatic Experiencing® was originally developed to address unresolved trauma that gets 'stuck' in the body. We all experience emotions physically, whether were are aware of it, or not. Somatic Experiencing® is a very gentle process to assist in finding some different management strategies for emotions as well as help regulate the nervous system.

EMDR THERAPY

Get Unstuck

I'm trained in S.A.F.E. (Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR) Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy. Learn different ways to be more mindful and present in your life. This type of EMDR is focused on healing attachment wounds, increasing somatic (body) awareness, exploring emotional blocks and trauma processes.

I am certified EMDR therapist through EMDRIA (EMDR International Association).

TELEHEALTH SESSIONS

Therapy in Your Own Space

Access mental health care from the comfort of your home or another private location. All that is needed is a secure internet connection and a media device with video capabilities (phone, tablet or computer). Telehealth sessions have been proven to be just as effective as in person sessions and can be accessed when meeting in person is not an option.

FAQ

HOW DO I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?

At the moment I am not accepting new clients but you can always reach out by phone or send me a message to connect.

WILL MY HEALTH INSURANCE COVER THERAPY?

Most insurance plans do cover therapy but out of pocket costs can vary. If you have specific questions on coverage, it's best to reach out to your insurance company and ask about outpatient mental health coverage for office visits or telehealth.

HOW LONG WILL THE PROCESS TAKE?

It depends on many factors. We can talk more about this our time together to assess what is realistic for you. During the first few sessions we'll explore any goals that you'd like to focus on together.

HOW WILL I DECIDE WHAT THERAPY MODALITY IS RIGHT FOR ME?

We can discuss and explore this together. It partly depends on willingness, curiosity and readiness. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to treatment, so we can be flexible to incorporate some body-based, expressive and talk therapy modalities.
